U.S. Virgin Islands, November 28, 2007 Tommy Starfish, the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association mascot, has returned from hiatus to deliver the second installment of his newsletter, Tommy Goes to School. The quarterly newsletter was created to educate kids on the tourism industry, spotlight various positions, profile local professionals, highlight indigenous facts and feature cool things that are a part of the Virgin Islands culture. This educational tool is sponsored by First Bank VI.

The newsletter offers a fun and informative way to learn about the industry and supports our goals to educate young people about the many facets of our business.”
Articles in this issue include: spotlighting the hotel concierge, a factoid on Charles Lindbergh who landed on St. Thomas in 1929, saving the sea turtle, a profile of local chef and culinary team captain Leslie Gumbs, and the forgotten game of marbles. The newsletter also invites kids to enter an essay contest where the winning entrant will receive a savings bond and a coveted Tommy Star Award.
