Committees
The association has several committees that actively work to promote the territory, the community, and the business environment of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The committees are the heart and soul of our association and the membership is actively encouraged to participate.
Advocacy Committee
Chaired By: Trudie Prior
The mission of the committee is to develop a proactive mechanism on behalf of the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association that encourages greater grass roots, involvement of members, and promotes a better understanding of the industry and its contribution to the local community. The committee also hopes to strengthen our political and social influence with a unified and consistent voice.
Education and Training Committee
Chaired By: Samuel Rey
The mission of this committee to increase the number of training hours offered to our employees as well as increase the number of local students integrated in the Hospitality industry. This committee’s initiatives include: USVI Culinary Team, Career Fairs, Summer Internship Program, Boys & Girls Club of the VI and more.
Environmental Commitee
Chaired By: Valerie Peters and Joel Kling
The mission of this committee is to spread the word to the membership about the importance and benefits of going GREEN through their Reduce/Recycle/Reuse initiatives. This committee successfully secured the status of Blue Flag at various beaches and marinas in the USVI. Blue Flag beaches are internationally recognized through environmental certifications.
Marketing Committee & Small Hotels Committees
Chaired By: Katarina Doumeng & Lisa Hamilton
The mission of this committee is to create an equitable self-generating fund that will enable the Association to take a partnership role in planning unified and consistent destination marketing programs.
Membership Committee
Chaired By: William Newbold & Terri Brown
The mission of this committee is to increase the Association’s membership by offering valuable benefits and building community awareness.
