US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association

Over 70 members packed the room for the USVIHTA Annual General Membership Meeting, held March 20 at the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. The association shared its Annual Report, recapping the progress we made in 2014. We highlighted some of the most important events and updates from the previous year and discussed plans for this year. The 2015 Board of Directors was also elected.

Recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Frank Comito joined us as a guest presenter, offering updates on CHTA and its areas of focus. Comito touched on advocacy and government affairs, marketing opportunities through CHTA, ways CHTA shares important industry information with its members, the CHTA Education Foundation, training opportunities, events, statistics and more. Comito discussed challenges that the U.S. Virgin Islands face in competition with other Caribbean nations, offering helpful advice. He suggested we improve our competitiveness through opportunities like partnerships with affiliates and stakeholders as well as involvement in advocacy issues and decisions.
