In an effort to help the rebuilding process of hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Cape Air is launching a new photo contest in hopes of reigniting the spark that draws millions of people to the Caribbean each year. Since 1998, Cape Air has been a vital connection to the Caribbean, meeting the needs of leisure travelers and businesses alike and will continue to strongly support those communities.

On Nov. 8, Cape Air launched #myconnection, which is an initiative to discover what connects people to the different destinations in the Caribbean.  The campaign consists of a photo contest in which participants will submit their photos and captions describing what connects them to our different Caribbean destinations. Using the hashtags #myconnectiontoSJU, #myconnectiontoVQS, #myconnectiontoSTT, #myconnectiontoSTX, #myconnectiontoEIS and #myconnectiontoMAZ, participants can enter to win. Submissions will be accepted until Dec. 8, and soon after, Cape Air will randomly select six winners of two round-trip tickets from San Juan, PR to any of our Caribbean destinations. This is an opportunity to lift the spirits in moments of hardship, re-live the memories, the joy, beauty and happiness of the Caribbean, and encourage people to continue visiting this special place.

“We want to be part of the recovery and rebuilding of the Caribbean territories and we will continue connecting the islands through the challenging times and the good ones,” said President of Cape Air Linda Markham. “We have brought stability to the inter-island traveling by operating consistently in the region for almost 20 years and will continue to do so,” she added.

Cape Air was the first airline to reinstate commercial flying between San Juan and St. Thomas after Hurricane Irma and soon after airports were operational after Hurricane Maria. Cape Air has also been offering humanitarian relief flights in support of the victims of both hurricanes; bringing supplies, food, water and medicine to some of the affected islands. Cape Air employees and business partners from the mainland recently held a fund raising event in which they raised close to $135,000 to support Cape Air’s Caribbean families.
