US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association
The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives held two days of productive meetings prior to CHTA’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace at Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas. On day one, the American Society of Association Executives held an informative leadership training session. Day two focused on strategic planning and best practices around the region.
The new Strategic Plan is an actionable document that will help lead the organization. In short, there are seven primary goals – each with respective strategies – to help achieve the refined mission of the organization. These include: Membership Development; Member Programs and Services; Industry Partner Management; Advocacy and Planning; Organizational Marketing; Organizational Infrastructure; and Communication.
CSHAE is expanding its efforts and attention beyond professional development and networking to become a viable player at the regional level as well as effective and relevant in the national marketplaces.
CSHAE also welcomed three new countries to the meetings: Belize, Bermuda and Dominica. All countries reported a slow in-demand due to the warm weather in the northeast. Additionally, executives discussed the Zika virus, which is a key area of concern for the region. We hope members will review the invaluable material provided by CHTA concerning the virus and best practices going forward.
