In a dual effort to retain its loyal, hardworking staff while addressing the limited availability of hotel rooms on St. Thomas during the COVID-19 pandemic, Flamboyan On The Bay Resort & Villas is open to all government approved short and long-term guests.

Formerly known as Magens Point, Flamboyan On The Bay has been in continuous operation since 1967. The family owned seven-acre resort overlooks iconic Magens Bay. It is located 3.5 miles from downtown Charlotte Amalie and approximately seven miles from Cyril E. King airport.

Although temporarily prohibited from accommodating club members and vacationers, the property is fully operational and available to serve essential workers from the medical, civic, and professional communities including — but not limited to — healthcare providers, disaster relief teams,  insurance representatives, and all government approved business persons.

The hillside property also is home to two popular eateries: Root 42 Bar and Grill as well as Northside Grind coffee shop, deli, and convenience market. Both enterprises are open to the public seven days a week for take-out. As an added convenience, nearby Old Stone Farmhouse offers gourmet meal delivery to hotel guests Thursday though Sunday evenings.

At Flamboyan On The Bay, attractively appointed studios, one-and-two-bedroom units feature kitchenettes with microwave, coffee maker, two-burner stovetops, blender, under-counter fridge, flatscreen TV, queen size beds, comfortable seating areas, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, free Wi-Fi, private balcony with ocean or garden view. Housekeeping services may be individually arranged at check-in. A wash-dry-fold laundry service also is available. For added convenience, an ATM is located in the hotel lobby. Additionally, guests have access to two refreshing pools as well as a relaxing hot tub in the garden.

Said proprietor Michael C. Shelby, “We are doing our best to keep our loyal staff employed during the pandemic.” He added, “As always, they are ‘going the extra mile’ for guests.”

With that in mind, Shelby emphasized that in addition to maintaining the resort in full compliance with all sanitation regulations, the staff and management understands there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to guests’ needs.

“During these unusually stressful times, we are doing all we can to accommodate the needs of our long-and-short-term residents,” he said. “For example, if a guest requests the fridge or pantry to be stocked with essentials, we will arrange to make it happen.”

During the pandemic, front desk hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed Sundays.
