On March 5, My Brother’s Workshop held its 3rd Annual “Thank You” Event for donors and supporters. This year, the event was held at the location of the organization’s new training school at historical Baker’s Square in downtown Charlotte Amalie. Doors are set to open April 24, and attendees were able to view the progress thus far.

MBW 03.05 Event_4Over 100 people were there to see the café and bakery and hear the guest speaker, Hector Verdugo, Associate Executive Director at Homeboy Industries. Verdugo’s speech inspired and touched attendees as he spoke about his past as a gang member and his growth through programs like My Brother’s Workshop. He hailed these programs as the solution to crime and violence, spreading a message of peace.

The event also featured delicious food prepared and served by the USVI Culinary Team and coffee by VI Coffee Roasters.

With the addition of the café and bakery, My Brother’s Workshop will double their capacity and aims to increase the number of female participants in the program.
