A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. This Stand-Down focuses on “Fall Hazards” and reinforcing the importance of “Fall Prevention.” The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), with support from the National Safety Council and dozens of other groups, asks employers to take a few minutes to discuss fall protection and safety when working from heights during the annual Fall Safety Stand Down May 8-12. Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by taking a break to have a toolbox talk or another safety activity such as conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans or discussing job specific hazards.

For the occasion, the University of the Virgin Islands Safety in Paradise Program will be offering a FREE Fall Protection Workshop. The activity will be held 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on May 5 at the UVICELL Center on St. Thomas and simultaneously at UVICELL Frederiksted building on St Croix.
