Third-party travel sites like Trip Advisor, Expedia and Orbitz are getting fewer flights because carriers are holding back their business. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling for a federal investigation of airlines that refuse to allow their fares on other sites. CBS News travel editor Peter Greenberg joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss how this impacts travelers.

In his interview, Greenberg discusses how airlines and hotels are pulling back their listings from OTA sites and the implications that is having for consumers. He also encourages consumers to contact hotels directly to verify information researched online and reminds them that they may find deals that they do not find online.

“How our guests find, research and book accommodations is changing every day. The OTAs will continue to give us ‘big picture’ support to a wide potential customer base that result in substantial booking numbers,” said Richard Doumeng, managing director of Bolongo Bay Beach Resort.
