US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association
The Savan Clean-up and Restoration Project was designed to benefit the residents of the Savan community by improving and beautifying the basketball court area. The goal is to re-awaken a sense of pride among the residents of the Savan community. The clean-up would not be possible without generous support from sponsors throughout the community, including local volunteers, individual sponsors, Community Action NOW! Inc., the Environmental Association of St. Thomas/St. John, Sankofa Saturdays, the Department of Economic Development, the University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Office, Carty’s Trucking and Trash Removal Service, Pate’Mon, Muhammad Juices, and more!
The Savan Clean-up and Restoration Project will include three weeks of intensive community service missions geared towards directly assisting the residents in Savan by providing education, on-site resources, cleaning up the historic Savan Ghut, removing over-run trash within and throughout Savan, revitalizing homes, creating a community garden and restoring a sense of pride to the natives and those that have now made Savan home. This project will serve as a turning point for future long-term projects and services in Savan.
The project officially launched July 9. Click here to view the project outline, including objectives and a breakdown of the timeline.
