US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association
On June 11 from 3 to 9 p.m., Downtown Revitalization Inc. (DRI) will host Art on the Town throughout Main Street and the Historic District of Charlotte Amalie. Art on the Town is an art walk where participants follow a map to visit different venues including art galleries, stores, bars and restaurants as well as artists and artisans gathered in Emancipation Garden. Participants are encouraged to visit all venues as they will be rewarded with a gift of a free ceramic lantern at Gallery St. Thomas when they turn in their map with a stamp from all venues.
The last Art on the Town event was a huge success and we expect this one to be even better. We have partnerships with hotels, villas, restaurants and bars to promote and draw on island visitors. To attract residents, the event is promoted on WSTA, St. Thomas This Week, the Source, the DRI website and email blasts, Facebook and word of mouth.
DRI and the Art on the Town Committee requests if your business is located in the Historic District and specifically on Main Street, please stay open until at least 6 p.m. on the evening of the event. This will allow on island visitors and residents alike to enjoy a shopping experience along with a cultural one. The added boost of people should benefit your bottom line. We encourage your business to create special benefits for event attendees.
The VI Police Department will be present to keep the area secure for participants, business owners and employees alike. There will also be additional lighting on Main Street and in Emancipation Garden. The apron will be open for parking along with the Fort parking lot.
DRI is committed to bringing residents and visitors back into the downtown area and historic district for the benefit of our community.
