Brothers-keeperMy Brother’s Workshop will be opening a second training school in downtown historic Bakery Square, Charlotte Amalie. The new school is being made possible by a prestigious donation of $50,000 from an anonymous donor.

“We recently received an amazing gift from a donor who has deep ties to St. Thomas, who recognizes the importance of positively impacting you people, most especially the youth of our island,” said MBW Executive Director, Jenny Hawkes. “With this major contribution to our needed funding, we have been able to quickly move forward and see the realization of our goal to open a new avenue of job training.”

The Bakery and Café will offer fresh baked breads, rolls, scones, confections, and sandwiches with indoor and outdoor seating. It will operate a full kitchen and expects to soon “fire up” the original outdoor brick over.

“The current program trainees will be doing the majority of the build out as well as making the tables, chairs, and exclusive wooden items that will be for sale,” said Hawkes.

The historic Bakery Square complex is one street north of Main Street bordering Back Street and Nye Gade. Thanks to visionaries and generous donors, MBW Bakery and Café is expected to “take the cake” as the best baked goods on the island, but more importantly, by providing life tools that build hope.
