US Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association
USVIHTA held its Annual General Membership Meeting April 22 at the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. Association officials discussed our 2015 year in review, gave important industry updates and shared plans for 2016. Additionally, Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty spoke about the Department of Tourism’s marketing plan and 2016 initiatives.
This year’s meeting was conducted in an open-discussion talk show format for a more interactive experience. It began with a short clip presentation by Nicholson-Doty, followed by a Q&A session between the commissioner and moderator Richard Doumeng, with association president Lisa Hamilton acting as on-the-scene correspondent. Nicholson-Doty touched on DOT plans and responded to inquiries from the audience. Subjects ranged from Cuba to the shared economy to the Zika virus.
Members also elected new board members, welcoming new chairman Scott Derrickson, who will take over for Trudie Prior. Thank you to those members who joined us for this important meeting.
