Virgin Islands National Park Announce Caneel Bay Public Meeting

ST. JOHN, U.S. Virgin Islands— 

Virgin Islands National Park would like to invite the local communities of St. John and St. Thomas to a public meeting to be held at the new Resources Managment and Science conference room the evening of June 5th at 5:45 PM local time. This is the first of several public meetings that Superintendent Penny Del Bene promised the public at a recent public meeting for the Caneel Bay Transition on May 14, 2024. 

In the June 5th meeting, we will explain the final plan for Caneel Bay Redevelopment as described in the Caneel Bay Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The FONSI is the decision document (signed July 26, 2023 and released on July 28, 2023) for the Environmental Assessment that presented different alternatives and was open for public comment January 20, 2023 through March 6, 2023.  More details about these processes and documents can be found at the following links which includes a video published on the park website describing the National Park Service Decision (FONSI) that was released July 28, 2023:

A shuttle will be provided from the Cruz Bay Visitor Center at 5:30 PM local time and leave the RMS building again at 06:45 PM. This meeting will also be available virtually via this MS Teams link
